To place an abutment

To place an abutment template on an existing supportline, use the following procedure.

You must use an existing abutment template. Your model must have at least one supportline.
Note: Due to the need to specify the start or end orientation on the bridge, only one abutment is added at time.
  1. Either:

    On the Home ribbon tab, select the Place Abutment tool in the Substructure group

    or

    key in bmgeom abutment placebypierline

  2. In the Place Abutment tool settings dialog, select the abutment template to use:
    1. Click […] adjacent to the Template Name setting. The Template Selection dialog opens.
    2. In the lists of abutment types, select the abutment template to use.
    3. Click Close.
  3. (Optional) Specify additional settings such as Integral option or horizontal offset.
  4. (Optional) In the Create Abutment tool settings dialog, clear the Elevation Constraints check box if no custom elevation changes are needed for any of the piers.
  5. In the Create Abutment tool settings dialog, select either Start or End in the Orientation setting drop-down list.
  6. In the view window, do the following:
    1. Select an existing supportline.
    2. Data point again to accept the selection.
  7. Specify any necessary cap elevation constraints for the abutment and then click Apply.
The abutment is placed in your project.
