STL File Exchange

Stereolithography (STL) files are basically lists of triangles that represent solid or surface geometry. If you are exporting an STL file to send a model for 3D printing, you can use clip volumes to divide the output.

You can import an STL file by choosing File > Import > 3D Modeling File Types > STL (*.stl) or by using the key-in STL IMPORT. The Choose an STL file to import dialog, a standard file selection dialog, opens. By default, Files of type is set to STL files (*.stl). The controls in this dialog are analogous to those in the Open dialog.

Selecting a file to import and clicking Open opens the Import STL dialog, which is used to adjust the settings for importing the STL file.

You can export an STL file by selecting an element (or selection set) and choosing File > Export > 3D Modeling File Types > Stereolithography (*.stl) or by using the key-in STL EXPORT. The Save As Stereolithography File dialog opens. By default, Files of type is set to STL files (*.stl). The controls in this dialog are analogous to those in the Save As dialog.

Clicking Save opens the Export STL dialog, which is used to adjust the settings for exporting the STL file.
