Dynamic Views Workflow 1

In this example, you have a sheet model, and you want to create a saved view of a section and reference the saved view on a drawing model and then reference the drawing model in another sheet model. You may then want to print or publish as an i-model.

To know more about dynamic views and drawing composition stages, see Dynamic Views.

Using Dynamic Views Manually, Workflow 1

  1. Create a section using the Place Section Callout tool.
  2. Create a saved view of the section with the Create Saved View tool.
  3. In the Models dialog, create and open a drawing model.
  4. From the References dialog, attach the saved view as a reference into the drawing model.
  5. In the Models dialog, create and open a sheet model.
  6. From the References dialog, attach the drawing model as a reference into the sheet model.
  7. Print or publish an i-model.

Now, rather than using multiple tools and dialogs to complete different operations, you can complete workflow #1 "automatically", by using the Create Drawing dialog.

To Automate Dynamic Views, Workflow 1

  1. Select the Place Section Callout tool.
  2. Turn on the Create Drawing check box.
  3. Enter a data point to define the starting point for the section callout.
  4. Enter a data point to define the ending point.
  5. Enter a data point to define the direction and depth of the callout.

    The Create Drawing dialog opens.

  6. Turn on the Create Drawing Model and Create Sheet Model check boxes.
  7. Click OK.

A new drawing model and a sheet model are created. The section view is referenced in the drawing model and the drawing model is in turn referenced in the new sheet model. If the Open Model check box is turned on, the new sheet model is opened.

  8. Print or publish an i-model.
