MicroStation CONNECT Edition Help

Create HTML File From Dialog

Used to create HTML files that can be viewed via any Web browser. HTML files can be created from a Cell Library, Design file Saved View, or a Design File Snapshot.

You can open this dialog from the following:
  • Ribbon: File > Tools > HTML Author

Thumbnail images can be generated in several Internet-aware formats, including JPEG (default), EMF, TIFF, and PNG, when creating HTML files from a cell library, design file saved view, or design file snapshot.

Note: MicroStation's printing system is used to create thumbnail images so you must have access to the appropriate drivers and printer driver configuration files.
SettingDescription
Cell Library Selecting Cell Library and clicking OK opens the Select Cell Library to Open dialog. After you select a cell library, the HTML Cell Page dialog opens, which is used to create an HTML file from a Cell Library.
Saved Views Selecting Saved Views and clicking OK opens the Select Design File dialog. After you select a design file, the Design File Walkthrough dialog opens, which is used to create an HTML file from a saved view of a design file.
Design File Snapshot Selecting Design File Snapshot and clicking OK opens the Select Design File dialog. After you select a design file, the Create HTML File dialog opens, which is used to create an HTML file with a view-only picture of the selected design file. Here you can set up the location, title, and relative URL paths for the HTML page.

Design File Snapshot actually creates several files. First, a JPEG image is created for each view on the selected screen. The image is named with the first 6 characters of the design filename followed by the view number (starting with 0) and a .JPG extension. (Example: kitchen.dgn, view 1 → kitche0.jpg, cd10.dgn, view 2 → cd101.jpg). The image is generated at the same size as the view on your screen.

Next, each image is included, with a link to the design file and view, on an HTML page named after the JPEG file. (Example: kitche0.jpg will be in the file kitche0.htm.)

The final output is an HTML file (named after the design file by default) with the "view" HTML files each contained in its own frame. The position and size of the frames approximate the position and size of the views on the screen when the snapshot was taken.

OK Opens a file selection dialog, depending on which option you select.
