Inserting Symbols

The Symbol Inserter dialog lets you to insert symbols (associated with the currently selected font) into the Text Editor window. In addition, you can add commonly used symbols to a user-defined Favorite List for faster access.

If you prefer to use the keyboard to enter symbols or characters, and if you know the character codes for them, you can use them in the Text Editor. Type two percent signs (%%) followed by the character code, then place the text. Some commonly used examples are:

  • Type %%d to place the degree symbol.
  • Type %%p to place the plus or minus sign.
  • Type %%c to place the capital letter O with a slash through it.
  • Type %%xxx, where “xxx” is a number corresponding to a character code to place the character.
