To Construct a Parametric Solid of Revolution with Selected Planar Elements as Its Profile

  1. Use the Element Selection tool to select the profile elements.
  2. Select the Revolve tool.
  3. Enter a data point. If Axis is set to Points, this data point defines one point on the axis of revolution. Otherwise, this data point defines the axis of revolution.
  4. If Axis is set to Points, enter a second data point to define another point on the axis of revolution.

Left: Use the Element Selection tool to select the required profile elements (1 and 2). | Right: Select the Revolve tool and enter data points to define the points on the axis of revolution.

Note: If the selected planar elements' areas intersect, the resulting solid is a solids union projected from the selected elements. If any profile is completely inside another profile, it is subtracted from the outer profile.

Left: Co-planar profile elements. | Right: Resulting revolved solid with overlapping profiles “unioned” and holes formed from profiles located completely inside another.
