Feature Manager Dialog

Used to select and manage features used in creating a solid. Opens when the Feature Manager tool is selected in the Feature Modeling Primary toolbox. You can dock the Feature Manager dialog to the left or right edge of the application window.

When you identify a solid, with the Feature Manager dialog open, the feature tree for the solid displays in the Feature Manager dialog. Features are displayed in the order that they were placed, with the first feature at the bottom of the list.

Individual branches on the feature tree can be:

  • Expanded by clicking the (+) icon.
  • Collapsed by clicking the (-) icon.

Alternatively, you can select a branch in the feature tree and use the keyboard to control its display, as follows:

  • Press the “+” key to display an individual branch.
  • Press the “*” key to display the branch plus all its sub-branches.
  • Press the “-” key to collapse the branch.

By default, solids are given the name “Feature solid” in the feature tree. This name can be changed via the right-click menu's Rename option.

Right-clicking on the feature solid entry in the list box opens a pop-up menu that lets you define various settings for the solid.

Right-clicking on a feature in the list box opens a pop-up menu that lets you select from options including those to modify or delete features and profiles, reorder the feature tree, or to suppress the display of features.

Where multiple features have been selected in the feature tree, right-clicking on any of the highlighted features opens a pop-up menu applicable to multiple features.

SettingDescription
(Right-click) Geometry Synchronization (Feature solid entry only) Opens a sub-menu with items for setting the synchronization of the geometry, as follows:
  • Automatic — If on, the solid is updated automatically to reflect the result of each edit operation (in Feature Manager).
  • Manual — If on, the solid is not updated to reflect the results of an edit operation (in Feature Manager), until you select Synchronize in the Geometry Synchronization menu.
  • Synchronize — Lets you manually update the solid to reflect the results of an edit operation (in Feature Manager). This option is dimmed when Automatic is on, or when no edits have been performed (when Manual is on).
(Right-click) Profile Dimensions (Feature solid entries only) Lets you set the display of the dimensions for all dimension driven profiles used in the solid:
  • All On — Turns on the display of dimensions for all dimension driven profiles.
  • All Off — Turns off the display of dimensions for all dimension driven profiles.
(Right-click) Feature Details (Feature solid entries only) Opens the Feature Modeling Feature Details dialog that displays the details for the selected solid.
(Right-click) Show Branch Headers (Feature solid entries only) If on, displays the solid feature names for branches of the feature tree such as those created with the boolean feature tools.
(Right-click) Rename (Feature solid entries only) Lets you rename the solid in the feature tree.
(Right-click) Modify (Feature entries only) Opens the Edit dialog for the highlighted feature.
(Right-click) Profile (Features created with profiles only) Opens a sub-menu with items equivalent to those for the Modify Profile tool, plus an option to toggle the display of dimensions (for dimension driven profiles only).
(Right-click) Modify Constraints (Features with constraints only) Opens the Modify Feature Constraints dialog, which lets you edit the values for existing constraints on the feature.
(Right-click) Display (Feature entries only) Opens a sub-menu with items for:
  • Feature Details — Opens the Feature Modeling Feature Details dialog, displaying description of the feature.
  • Geometry At Feature — Displays the solid containing only those feature that were present up to the selected feature in the feature tree.
(Right-click) Re-order Tree (Feature entries only) Opens a sub-menu with items for:
  • Move To Top — To move the feature to the top of the feature tree (where allowed).
  • Mark For Move — Marks the selected feature for a later move.
  • Insert Marked Above — Moves a previously marked feature to the position immediately above the selected feature, in the feature tree (where allowed).

Where a feature cannot be moved, an Information box opens to explain why the feature cannot be moved.

(Right-click) Suppress Feature (Individual feature entries only) Opens a sub-menu with items for:
  • By Instance — Toggles the display of the selected feature in the solid. Features that are not displayed, appear greyed out in the Feature Manager dialog.
  • By Type — Opens the Feature Type Suppression dialog, which lets you turn display on or off for the type of feature selected. Where a feature has a dimension, such as a blend, the Feature Type Suppression dialog lets you restrict the suppression to those features having a dimension less than a defined value.
  • All Above Feature — Lets you suppress the display of all features higher up the feature tree than the selected feature.
  • Delete All — Lets you delete all features that have been suppressed.
(Right-click) Delete (Feature entries only) Deletes the selected feature.
(Right-click) Delete Selected Features (Multiple feature entries selected only) Deletes the selected features.
(Right-click) Suppress Selected Features (Multiple feature entries selected only) Suppresses display of the selected features.
