Customize Dialog, Context Menus Tab

Contains controls to add, organize, delete, and assign properties to menus and menu items that you add to context (right-click) menus.

The following controls can be used only in the open DGN file (below the blue V8 icon), unless otherwise noted. For more information, see Customizations in DGN libraries.

Note: If the open DGN file is not a configured DGN library, you will be unable to use the features on the Context Menus tab while that DGN file is open.

New Context


Adds a new context folder to the right-click menu. A context folder is a container to which you add context menus and context menu items. The context menus and menu items appear in the right-click menu.
New Menu


Adds a context menu below the selected context folder, context menu, or context menu item. The context menu's name must be unique to its context folder, it can be of any length, and it cannot contain the backslash (\) character.
New Menu Item


Adds a context menu item below the selected context menu or context menu item. The context menu item's name must be unique to its parent menu, it can be of any length, and it cannot contain the backslash (\) character.
Cut


Cuts the selected context folder, context menu, or context menu item. You cannot cut standard MicroStation context folders, context menus, or context menu items.
Copy


Copies the selected context folder, context menu, or context menu item. When you paste the copied item you can change its name. This icon can be used to copy standard MicroStation context folders, context menus, or context menu items.
Paste


Pastes the cut or copied context folder, context menu, or context menu item below your insertion point.
Move Up


Moves the selected context folder, context menu, or context menu item up one position in the hierarchy. This can occur only if it is not already the first one in its parent. You cannot move up standard MicroStation context folders, context menus, or context menu items.
Tip: You also can use the drag-and-drop functionality to move up items.
Move Down


Moves the selected context folder, context menu, or context menu item down one position in the hierarchy. This can occur only if it is not already the last one in its parent. You cannot move down standard MicroStation context folders, context menus, or context menu items.

Delete


Deletes the selected context folder, context menu, or context menu item.
Pop-up menu for context folders, context menus, and context menu items Right-clicking a context folder, context menu, or context menu item presents a list of actions that you can perform on the selected item.
  • Add — Allows you to add properties to context menus and context menu items.
  • New Menu — The effect is the same as clicking the New Menu icon.
  • New Context — The effect is the same as clicking the New Context icon.
  • New Menu Item — The effect is the same as clicking the New Menu Item icon.
  • Cut — The effect is the same as clicking the Cut icon.
  • Copy — The effect is the same as clicking the Copy icon.
  • Paste — The effect is the same as clicking the Paste icon.
  • Move Up — The effect is the same as clicking the Move Up icon.
  • Move Down — The effect is the same as clicking the Move Down icon.
  • Delete — The effect is the same as clicking the Delete icon.
  • Rename — Allows you to type a new name for the selected item.
Properties Properties of context folders, context menus, or context menu items appear in the Properties pane when the item is selected.

When you are working with context menus and context menu items, right-clicking in the gray area below the existing properties presents the Add pop-up menu, which allows you to add more properties to the selected item. This has the same effect as right-clicking an item and selecting Add from the pop-up menu.
