Swept Surface Along Curves

(3D only) Used to create a Smart Surface by sweeping one or two section profile curves along one or two trace curves.

You can access this tool from the following:

  • Ribbon: Modeling > Surfaces > Create Surfaces > Extrude/Sweep > Sweep
  • Toolbox: Create Freeform Surfaces

SettingDescription
Sweep Two Along One

Sweeps two section curves along one trace curve.
Sweep One Along Two or Three

Sweeps one section curve along two or three trace curves.
Sweep Two Along Two

Sweeps two section curves along two trace curves.
Alignment Sets the way that the profile is swept along the trace elements.
  • Normal — As the profile is extruded, it maintains a fixed relationship with the normal plane of the path.
  • Parallel — As the profile element is extruded, it remains aligned parallel to its original position.
  • Param — As the profile element is extruded, it follows proportional parameter distance along the path and guide wires.
  • Arc Length — As the profile element is extruded, it follows proportional arc length distance along the path and guide wires.
Scale To Trace Curves (Sweep One Along Two or Three option only) If on, the section profile curve is scaled as it sweeps along the trace curves. If off, the trace curve simply serves to control orientation.
Scale Profile Height (Sweep One Along Two or Three option, with Scale To Second Trace on, only) If on, the section profile curve is also scaled in the height direction.
Allow Self-Intersection If on, allows the geometry to intersect during the sweep. The geometry created will do its best to follow the trace curves but may split the resulting surface and adjust the trace curve position. If on, the creating or intersection geometry can take much longer to resolve.
Keep Path If on, the trace elements are retained in the model.
Keep Profile If on, the section elements are retained in the model.
