New and Changed in GenerativeComponents CONNECT Edition Update 4

The following topics summarize the new features and enhancements in the GenerativeComponents CONNECT Edition Update 4 release.

CONNECT Licensing

GenerativeComponents CONNECT Edition Update 11 implements the new CONNECT Licensing feature which is an improved process of product activation and license management. You will now be able to securely activate your products based on your authenticated sign-in through CONNECTION Client. You only have to sign-in to CONNECTION Client to access GenerativeComponents. You can check your entitlements (products you have access to) in the Bentley Licensing tool accessible from within GenerativeComponents (File > Tools > License Management). Here, under Entitlements, you will see a list of products that you are entitled to.

Grid Node

The new node named Grid Node is added to the AECOsim Building Designer pane in Node Types. This node helps constructing robust grids in the design model.

Supports Multiple Models

Previously, GenerativeComponents only supported a single model in which to work. GenerativeComponents CONNECT Edition Update 4 is enhanced to support multiple GenerativeComponents models. Multiple model support in GenerativeComponents allows teams of designers to collaborate on a large project.

The complexity and size of the GenerativeComponents model is unlimited. That has not changed. However, with the ability to support multiple models, complex GenerativeComponents models by means of breaking down the design model into smaller, simpler sub models having nodes exposing to external users.

Imported GC Model Node

The new node named Imported GC Model Node is added to the Node Types pane. This node helps in a complex and large model design, by allowing multiple users in a team to work in collaboration. The components of the main design file can be made Imported GC Model Nodes and worked externally.

GC Model Output Property

The newly added Setting GC Model Output Property option (the right-click > GC Model Output Property menu, in Graph view) for a node designates the node to be able to expose to external users; thereby enabling other users to import such nodes as a part component of host design. Such nodes are then linked to work in "Import GC Model Node".
