Modeling the Control Interface

Once the control parameters have been identified, you can go about modeling the control interface. One limitation of a law curve is that it can only be orientated in the x-axis, therefore, if you would like to create a vertical controller to control the profile of a tower as in the case below, the controller must be modeled before it is referenced into the overall model. The information from each view can develop simultaneously and eventually can be extracted into a third view to compile the information contained in the model.

In the image below, the section curve for each profile controls the overall geometry of the tower and every floor plate is extracted, numbered, and notated with its geometric properties (length from core, area, etc.) which are summed at the end to give an overall idea of the building's properties and quantities. This is a unique approach as the designer can now work in section and see his or her 3D model update in real-time. This model could be further developed by introducing a unique facade detail in section at a finer scale, and then applied to the overall section before modeling the facade in 3D.
