Product Installation

The following guidelines should be reviewed prior to Bentley Map product installation:

When installing or uninstalling Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10), you must be logged on with Administrator rights.
Installation of Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) on Windows 2000 is not supported. For more information on supported operating systems, see the Requirements section.
Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) requires software libraries (DLLs) that are delivered with Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 6.0 (or greater). Because of this, make sure Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later) is installed on your computer before you install the Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) release. You do not need to change your default Web browser if it is currently something other than Internet Explorer.
It is highly recommended that you close any programs and disable any antivirus software that is running prior to the installation of this software. Be sure to turn on your antivirus software once product installation has been completed.
Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) also requires that the Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications v08.11.09 be installed to your workstation prior to installation. See the Requirements section for additional information.

Editing Mode - Installation Option

When installing the Bentley Map PowerView V8i (SELECTseries 10) product, users may choose to perform a "Custom" installation to modify the default "Editing Mode" support with that installation option having the following effects:

"Editing Mode: Enabled" (default) − With the "Editing Mode" option enabled, support for Bentley Map PowerView operation using either Editing (R/W) or Markup (R/O) modes is installed. Users may then use the Work in Markup Mode user preference to switch between Editing and Markup modes, requiring only a session restart to change modes. The "Editing" mode provides direct editing of design data while the "Markup" mode provides redlining capabilities in an overlay file rather than the actual design file.
"Editing Mode : Disabled" − With the "Editing Mode" option disabled, Bentley Map PowerView restricts product operation to Markup (R/O) mode. This installation option prevents selection of Editing (R/W) mode operation in user preferences and can be used by administrators to ensure R/O and redlining access to design data.
