Requirements
The following sections outline the workstation (hardware) and software requirements necessary to properly install and run the Bentley Map product.
Operating System
The supported operating systems for Bentley Map installation are:

Windows 8 is supplied with .NET Framework 4.5, whereas Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) requires .NET Framework 3.5. Hence, if you are installing Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) on Windows 8, you need to enable the .NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel. Software Prerequisites

The Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications v08.11.09 are automatically downloaded and installed to your workstation while you install MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3). The Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications needs to be installed on your system once, and only needs to be reinstalled if you are installing a later version of MicroStation that requires an updated prerequisite pack. The Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications is available from the Software Downloads page. The contents of the Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications include: Windows Installer Version 3.1v2 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 6 SP 1 (32-bit and 64-bit) Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications core Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications localized DHTML Editing Control for Applications DirectX 9.0c (DirectX 10 or higher recommended) Microsoft Internet Explorer v6.0 or later with 128-bit cipher strength is also required. Workstation Profile
The minimum recommended workstation profile for installing and running Bentley Map is:
| Processor | Intel® or AMD® processor 3.0 GHz or greater. We do not support MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3) on a CPU that does not support SSE2. |
| Memory | 512 MB minimum, 2 GB or more recommended. Additional memory will almost always improve performance, particularly when working with larger models. Please see this article for information on support of more than 2GB of physical RAM on systems running Windows operating systems that support this. Please refer to this article for information on optimizing the Windows virtual memory configuration settings. |
| Hard Disk | 2.0 GB to 3.5 GB free disk space (which includes space for temporary installation files, product setup packages, required prerequisite pack installation and between ~660 MB to ~1.2 GB footprint resulting from complete installations of one of the following products: |
| Video | Graphics card supported by DirectX 9.0c. See the graphics card manufacturer for latest information on DirectX drivers. 256 MB of video RAM or higher is recommended. If insufficient video RAM or no graphics card supported by DirectX can be found, MicroStation attempts to use software emulation. For optimal performance, graphics display color depth should be set to 24-bit or higher. When using a color depth setting of 16-bit, some inconsistencies will be noted. Microsoft SQL Server
For use of Microsoft SQL Server spatial functionality, the required server list is as follows:

MicroStation
If planning to perform a layered Bentley Map "For MicroStation" product installation, the following version of MicroStation must first be installed and configured properly.
Please note that a separate MicroStation installation is not required for the "Standalone" versions of the Bentley Map PowerView, Bentley Map or Bentley Map Enterprise products.
FME Desktop
One of the following versions of the FME Desktop 32-bit for Windows software must be installed and properly licensed to use the Bentley Map FME Extension functionality. Please note that the FME Desktop installation should be performed from a user account that has administrative privileges on the local machine.
