Sub-surfaces such as the Window tree object occupy the next highest position in the hierarchy below that of Surface tree objects. Windows are typically associated with Exposed walls, but can also be associated with Partitions.

Windows and Doors are surfaces that can be classified as sub-surfaces, each with a common set of data properties and a unique set of special properties.

The Window object, when selected, provides an entry point to the surface data on the Properties For: Window dialog. Here, you can view basic surface data such as the surface category and sub-type (Window) as well as dimensional data. There is also data related to Recess shading and Blind shading. The Window’s Construction details are displayed in several sub-panels. The Window has special properties related to its construction including a panel containing Glazing data. These special properties when manipulated, affect thermal and shading calculations and energy simulations that are performed on the project building.
