To view ASHRAE 90.1 prescriptive results for the building Lighting design
-
Run an ASHRAE 90.1 calculation.
The calculation settings dialog opens.
-
Select the Lighting tab from the dialog.
CLP (connected lighting power) for all the interior and exterior lights and the permitted power allowances for them, calculated based on the standard requirements, are reported here for both the Building Area Method and Space-By-Space Method compliance path options.
-
Review the power allowance results for the
Interior Lighting of the building.
Confirm compliance by adding the total Interior Lighting Power Allowance for
the chosen compliance path option (Building Area Method or Space-By-Space
Method) to the total Additional Interior Lighting Power Allowance to get the
total interior lighting power allowance for the building. If it is larger than
the total interior CLP, the building complies with the lighting requirements of
the standard. If the total interior CLP is larger than the allowance, then a
change in the building interior lighting design should be considered.
Tip: Interior lighting data, including exemptions and allowances, is defined for each room in the building by using the settings provided for the Lighting Component . Lighting components are automatically created in rooms whenever a room is created. They can also be placed manually in any room.
-
Review the power allowance results for the
Exterior Lighting of the
building. Exterior lighting standard requirements are separate from interior
lighting requirements and include trade-offs for compliance in special
applications. Compliance is summarized in the Exterior Lighting Compliance Test
reports. The test is used to determine if the total inputted power does not
exceed the total power allowances (tradable, non-tradable, plus an unrestricted
5% allowance). If the inputted power exceeds the allowances, then a change in
the building exterior lighting design should be considered.
Tip: Exterior lighting data, including tradable and non-tradable allowances and exemptions, is defined for each of the building external luminaires by using the settings provided for the Building Lighting Component . The building lighting component is added manually by selecting a menu option on the building object in the OpenBuildings™ Station Designer Project Tree dialog box.
