Export Beam Data to RAM SBeam

To export individual member data to RAM SBeam for design, use the following procedure.

Note: You must have a separate license for RAM SBeam to use this feature. RAM SBeam must be installed on the computer along with STAAD.Pro.
RAM SBeam is used for designing single-span, steel beams (with or without cantilever on each end). The beams can be designed with or without composite decking. The following requirements must be applicable to the members for exporting:
  • only wide flange, channel, and rectangular hollow tubes sections may be used
  • multiple members must be connected and colinear
  1. Select up to three members to export.
Tip: Hold the <Ctrl> key to select multiple members individually.
  2. On the Design ribbon tab, select the RAM SBeam tool in the Export group.

The Export to RAM SBeam dialog opens.
  3. Specify the design criteria to use:
    1. Select the design Code.
    2. For some codes, you must also select the Version of the code along with the Method of design to use.
    3. Additional options for supplements or amendments are available for the AISC ASD 9th Edition and BS 5950 2000 version.
  4. When multiple members are selected, you must select the member number to use as the middle span. The other spans in the selection set are assumed to be cantilever spans at the connected ends.
  5. For the load cases included in STAAD.Pro, each must be "mapped" to one of the load types used in RAM SBeam:
    • DL - dead load
    • CDL - construction live load
    • LL - live load
    • Partition - partition dead loads
    • CLL - construction live load
  6. Click OK. A RAM SBeam file with the beam design data created using the following naming convention: Base_STAAD_Input_Filename_Mmember_number.rsb.

This file is opened in the RAM SBeam application.

You can re-open the linked beam design file at another time by selecting the Exported members tool in the Members group on the Spreadsheet ribbon tab. There the
