To assign thickness to a surface

To assign a thickness value to a surface, use the following procedure.

  1. Select surfaces that will all have the same thickness.
  2. Select the Thickness tool in the Assign properties group on the Surface ribbon tab.

    The Assign Surface Thickness dialog opens.
  3. Select the thickness specification Type:

    Constant - for surfaces of uniform thickness

    or

    Variable - for surfaces with varying thickness

  4. Specify the thickness value(s):
    For… Do the following…
    constant thickness type a Thickness value
    variable thickness select a node of the surface from the drop-down list and then type the thickness associated with that node
  5. For variable thickness surfaces, repeat Step 4 for node 2 and node 3.
  6. Click OK. The dialog closes and the thickness value is assigned to selected surfaces.
You can use the same procedure to change the surface thickness value.

You can also make changes to constant surface thickness values by selecting the Properties tool in the Surfaces group on the Spreadsheet ribbon tab.

You can also make changes to variable surface thickness values by selecting the Variable Thickness tool in the Surfaces group on the Spreadsheet ribbon tab.
