To generate nodes in a rectangular array

To add a quadrangular array of nodes, use the following procedure.

  1. Select a group of four nodes in the model.

You must select four nodes not along a single line but within a single plane to define the plane of the node generation. The line segments between nodes do not need to be parallel. They can form any four-sided polygonal shape.

  2. Select the Quadratic Generation tool in the Edit group on the Nodal ribbon tab.

The Node quadrangular generation dialog opens.
  3. Type the number of nodes along the perpendicular sides, respectively. The sides are labeled by the order of the selection of nodes. For example, 1-2 represents the first and second node selected, where as 1-4 represents the first and last (fourth) node selected for the array.
  4. Click OK. The dialog closes and the nodes are generated in the selected plane.
