To add descriptions to members
To add description tags to members, use the following procedure.
Each time this
procedure is performed, the number suffix of the description is incremented.
For example, if you select all of the beams framing the first floor of a structure and apply the beam description, they will be labeled BEAM1. Repeating the procedure again will label the second selection of beams as BEAM2.
- Select members with the same description (i.e., beam, column, or brace).

Select the
Description tool in the
Assign properties group on the
Member ribbon tab.

From the drop-down list, select the appropriate description tag
for the selected members.
