To segment members evenly

To segment members into a number of even lengths, use the following procedure.

Select the members you want segment into the same number of lengths.
On the Member ribbon tab, select the Segment Member > Split member into a number of segments tool in the Edit group.

The Segment Member dialog opens.
Type the Number of segments you want to break the member into.
(Optional) Select the Create nodes only option to generate nodes at even spaces along the member but to keep the member as a single object.
Click OK. The dialog closes and new nodes are generated at the ends of the new segments.

Tip: You can use Undo to immediately undo this action. You can also use the Merge tool to re-merge members.
