To assign pressure to a panel

To assign a uniform pressure to a panel, use the following procedure.

Note: Panel pressure and direction values are assigned to the current load group (as are any member loads resulting from distributing a panel). You can re-use the same panel connectivity and edges (i.e., area and tributary definition) for multiple load groups, though.
  1. Select the panels that will have the same load.
  2. On the Panel ribbon tab, select the Assign Uniform Pressure & Direction tool in the Edit group.

The Add panel load dialog opens.
  3. Select the Direction of the load from the drop-down list.
    • Global X / Y / Z – to apply loads parallel to the selected global axis.
    • Local x / y / z – to apply loads parallel to the local panel axis. Panel local axes are determined the same way that surface axis are determined. Local x and y loads are in the plane of the panel load.
  4. Type the Magnitude of the uniform pressure.
  5. Click OK. The dialog closes and the uniform pressure is applied.

You can edit area load pressure and direction values for the current load group or load case by selecting the Constant panel pressure tool in the Non-Structural group on the Spreadsheet ribbon tab.

Load vectors are given as unit vectors in the three global axis.
