To duplicate an existing template

To copy and paste an existing template for editing, use the following procedure.

Copying and pasting an existing XML template is the recommended way to create a new XML template. This provides you with a starting place for many of the template features for your own project.
  1. On the Model ribbon tab, select the Structure Wizard tool in the Create group.

    The STAAD.Pro Physical Modeller Structure Wizard window opens.
  2. Select the source template in the templates panel and then either:

    right-click on a template name and then select Copy from the pop-up context menu.

    or

    select the Copy tool in the Edit group on the ribbon tab.

  3. Select the target templates folder in the Templates panel. You can also select any template within a folder.
  4. To paste the copy from the clipboard, either:

    right-click and then select Paste from the pop-up context menu.

    or

    select the Paste tool in the Edit group on the ribbon tab.

    The template copy is pasted to the selected folder.
  5. (Optional) To rename your template copy, either:
    1. Either:

      right-click and then select Rename from the pop-up context menu.

      or

      select theRename tool in the Edit group on the ribbon tab.

    2. Type a new template name and then press <Return>.
You can now make edits to the template copy source XML.
Tip: Hovering your mouse pointer over a template name in the Templates panel will display the full file path in a tool tip.
