STAAD.Pro Physical Modeler Help

Units in STAAD.Pro Physical Modeler

When you begin a new model file in STAAD.Pro, you select default units of length and force. When you must use different units than the defaults in a particular field, you will simply type them in the appropriate fields in the properties panel. When typing a value in any field, simply add a space and then type the abbreviation for the desired units. Similarly, you can set derived units differently than base units.

For example, if you want to typically work in feet and kips, you will still set the units for pressure as pounds (force) per square foot and moment as inch-kips. Then, in one instance it is more convenient to enter a moment in ft-kips, you can simply include the non-default units.

CAUTION: Changing a unit type in STAAD.Pro does not change any existing value's units in the model. This only changes the default units in the interface.
