To merge members

Two merge two or more members into a single member, use the following procedure.

The member merge will result in a final member that connects the start node of the first member and the end node of the last member.

Note: While this procedure works on members that are no co-linear, doing so may result in unwanted results as the resulting merged member will leave nodes not in line between the extreme ends outside of the member line.

The section and material of the last member in the selection will be used for the resulting merged member.

Select two or more members.
On the Member ribbon tab, select the Merge tool in the Edit group.
Select one of the options from the drop-down list:

Tool Description

Merge Members Keeping Nodes All nodes are kept.

Merge Members Deleting Nodes Only the extreme start and end nodes are kept.

The members are merged into a single member.
