To divide surfaces

To segment surfaces into two or more surfaces each, use the following procedure.

Select a surface object.
On the Surface ribbon tab, select the Divide tool in the Edit group.

The Segment Surfaces dialog opens.
Type the Number of segments parallel to axis 1 and Number of segments parallel to axis 2.
(Optional) Check the Create nodes only option to generate evenly spaced nodes along the surface perimeter.
Note: The interior nodes that would be created to actually divide the surface are not created as these would be disconnected (i.e., "orphan") nodes.
Click OK. The dialog closes and the new nodes are created. The surface is divided as indicated.

Note: Surface orientation is reset to the initial definition of the local x axis being parallel to the edge defined by the first two nodes in the connectivity.

Note: You can use Undo to immediately undo this action. You can also use the Merge tool to re-merge surfaces.
