To add descriptions to surfaces
To add description tags to surfaces, use the following procedure.
These description tags are used in helping to identify elements in modeling and used by the analytical analysis engine as well as in concrete design.
Each time this procedure is performed, the number suffix of the description is incremented.
For example, if you select all of the surfaces for the first floor slab of a structure and apply the beam description, they will be labeled SLAB1. Repeating the procedure again will label the second selection of surfaces as SLAB2.
- Select surfaces with the same description (i.e., slab or wall).

Select the
Description tool in the
Assign properties group on the
Surface ribbon tab.

From the drop-down list, select the appropriate description tag
for the selected surfaces.
- Undefined - no description tag used.
- Wall
- WALL_TANK
- Slab
- SLAB_TANK
