STAAD.Pro Physical Modeler Help

Model Ribbon Tab

Contains general modeling tools.

Table 1. Create group
Tool name Description

UCS
Opens the Create UCS dialog, which is used specify the origin and orientation of a custom coordinate system.

Grid
Opens the Create Grid, which is used to enter the properties for planar grid systems

Member
Used to draw members graphically by snapping to nodes or grid points in the view window.

Surface
Used to draw surfaces graphically by snapping to nodes or grid points in the view window.

Polygonal Openings
Used to draw irregular polygonal openings in surfaces graphically by snapping to nodes or grid points in the view window.

Circular Openings
Opens the Add Circular Openings dialog, which is used to draw regular polygonal openings with a specified radius and number of facets.

Region
Used to draw a region graphically on a surface.

Reference Line
Used to draw a reference line graphically on a surface.

Panel
Used to draw panel loads onto surfaces graphically by snapping to nodes or grid points in the view window.
Table 2. Loads group
Tool name Description

Load Group
Opens the Add load group dialog, which is used to specify a new load group of load items all pertaining to a similar type of loading.

Load Case
Opens the Add Load Case dialog, which is used to add a load case.

Load Combination
Opens the Add Load Combination dialog, which is used to add a load case which consists of factored combinations of loads from other load cases.

Time History Ground Motion
Opens the Add Time History Ground Motion dialog, which is used to apply previously defined ground motion time history definitions to the structure.
Note: This tool is inactive unless the active load is a time history a time history load case.

Self Weight
Adds self weight to the current load group for members and surfaces applied in the negative Y global axis.

Add Loads
Opens the Add Loads dialog which is used to copy loads from an existing load group or load case.
Table 3. Edit group
Tool name Description

Translational Repeat
Opens the Translational Repeat dialog, which is used to make a copy of a selected portion of the model along an axis direction (i.e., translational copy).

Move
Opens the Move dialog, which is used to translate selected model objects with respect to a coordinate system's axes.

Rotate
Opens the Rotate model dialog, which is used to either move or copy a selected portion of the model about an axis (i.e., rotational copy).

Circular Repeat
Opens the Circular Repeat dialog, which is used to generate copies of a selected portion of the model in a cylindrical array.

Mirror
Opens the Mirror dialog, which is used to generate a "mirrored" copy of a selected portion of the model about a plane.

Integrity Check
Opens the Model Integrity Check dialog, which is used to perform a range of checks for duplicate objects, overlapping objects, orphan nodes, warped surfaces, and zero length members.

Segment
Segments the model into component analytical elements per the settings on the Configuration dialog.
Tip: You can preview the segmented model by using the Analysis Model tool on the View ribbon tab.
Table 4. Story group
Tool name Description

Story
Automatically detects and assigns story numbers to members.
