Assign material dialog
This dialog is used to assign materials to members, surfaces, or surface regions. Existing materials in the model can be used or new ones can be added to the model.
|Source||Select one of the following options:|
|Country||Select a country with which to associate the custom material.|
|Specification||Select the appropriate material specification to which this custom material will be added.|
|E||(Steel only) Specifies the modulus of elasticity (i.e., Young's Modulus).|
|G||(Steel only) Specifies the shear modulus.|
|Mu||"Poisson's ratio", the ratio of transverse strain to strain in the direction of load.|
|Gamma||The weight density of the material.|
|Alpha||Coefficient of thermal expansion.|
|Fy||(Steel only) Yield strength.|
|Fu||(Steel only) Ultimate tensile strength.|
|Fck||(Concrete only) Ultimate compressive strength of concrete.|
|Fcu||(Concrete only) Ultimate compressive strength of concrete.|
|CDAMP||Damping ratio to be used in computing the modal damping by the composite damping method in a dynamic analysis when CDAMP has been specified. Damping must be in the range of 0.001 to 0.990.|
|Name||Type a name used to later identify the custom material.|
|Material name||Type a unique name used to identify the generic material.|
Additionally, you must define E, G, Mu, Gamma, Alpha, and CDAMP values for generic materials. See the description for custom materials for definitions.
If you select either Model or User database as the Source, you can then select an existing material from your model or custom user database.
|Type||For User Database materials, select either Custom or Generic material types.|
|Material type||For Custom materials, select the specification type.|
|Name||Select the existing material name from the list.|
