Details

Verify the bending capacity of a W21x48. The member is used as a 40 ft simple span. The member is continuously braced. The material is ASTM A992 (Fy = 50 ksi).

Validation

Flange Slenderness

λ = bf / 2tf = 9.47 (from Table 1-1 of Reference 1)
