Columns Geometry Page
This Frame will appear differently depending on the selected Column type (rectangular, circular, rectangular tapered, rectangular chamfered, hexagonal, or octagonal).
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Number of Columns | Defines the number of columns from the left side of the cap with a defined spacing, up to 10 columns. |
Define void | Displays a new screen were a trapezoidal shape void can be modeled inside the pier using A1,A2, B1, B2 fields. |
Rectangular/Circular Frame
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Spacing (sp) | Defines the distance between two consecutive columns measured along the pier axis and the total spacing should not exceed cap width and be greater than column width. |
Top/Bot Width (ctw/cbw) | Defines the width of the column at top and bottom elevation. |
Side width (csw) | Defines lateral width of the column, should not exceed cap side width. |
Bot elevation | Defines the difference between column bottom elevation and elevation on profile axis, cross section depth, bearing depth and pier cap depth. |
For Circular column type we have Top/Bot Diameter defining the column section at bottom and top elevation of the column.
Rectangular-chamfered Frame
For every column in the pier at least two cross-sections must be specified. To enter the first column, input the values in spacing, height, width, side width, chamfer X, Chamfer Z, variation fields.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
View column | Defines the column you want to view, a drop down list will show all available columns that were previously defined in number of columns field. |
Spacing | Defines the column position from the last column or if the first column is selected ,from the left end of the cap. |
Bot elevation | Defines the difference between column bottom elevation and elevation on profile axis, cross section depth, bearing depth and pier cap depth. |
Number of sections | Defines the number of sections used for column modeling. |
Height | Defines the distance from previous section, for the first section it is always 0. |
Width/Side width | Defines rectangular section parameters. |
Chamfer (cX;cZ) | Defines Chamfer (X or Z) length. |
Variation | Defines linear or parabolic variation between two defined sections of the column. |
Rectangular-filleted Frame
Similar with Rectangular-chamfered, the only distinction is that fillet radius can be defined for each section of the column.
Rectangular-tapered/Hexagonal/Octagonal Frames
These 3 column frames distinguish from each other by the columns cross section which can be rectangular, hexagonal or octagonal.
