RAM Structural System Help

Eurocode Factors dialog

Opens when Criteria > Eurocode Factors is selected.

A number of factors used in the Eurocode may vary from country to country. Their values are specified in the individual country’s National Application Document (NAD). You may specify these values as appropriate.

Note: The Factors used in the Load Combinations generated in RAM Frame are not taken from this dialog. They are specified in the Load Combination templates used by RAM Frame.

If the factors are modified after one of the Design Modules has been run, optimized member designs will automatically be removed from the database and the "framing tables" will be rebuilt based on the newly specified values. A warning message to this effect will be posted providing the option of canceling the change.

SettingDescription
Partial Factors for Gravity Load Combinations Load factors for load combination generation and member resistance factors for adjusting member capacity.
Partial Factors for Resistance
Live Load Reduction (Psi) Factors for live load reduction and for the combination of tension and bending in the design of lateral members.
Design fy To indicate whether the design fy of beams, columns and/or braces should be reduced according to the member thickness as described in the Eurocode.
Beam Lateral Torsional Buckling (Zg=0) Specify whether loads applied along the length of the section are applied at the top flange or at the shear center. The selected option will impact the magnitude of Mcr per Annex F of ENV 1993-1-1:1992 by setting Zg=0 if the load is applied at the shear center.
Composite Beam Design Factors used in the design of composite beams.
