Vibration Analysis-Original Method

Selecting the Vibration-Original Method command will cause the target cursor to appear. Upon selecting a beam for a vibration analysis to be performed, the Vibration Analysis (Murray's Method) dialog will appear.

In addition to the pertinent beam information, N-effective, Frequency, Amplitude, Range on the Modified Reiher-Meister Scale, and Required Damping for the beam are shown. This vibration check is performed with the following default values:

  • % DL applied = 100.0
  • % unreduced LL applied = 10.0
  • Neff Used = Neff Calculated
  • Ignore any adjoining girder frequencies

Any of the above defaults can be modified by the User. Upon doing so, the result fields are cleared and the Print Button disabled. After modifying the desired defaults, the User should select the Re-Calculate Button, at which time the new results will be shown and the Print button re-enabled. The Print Button may then be clicked to print an output report of the vibration check.

For technical information regarding the Vibration Analysis, see the RAM Steel Beam Manual.
