Adding a Concrete Column Section

Select Concrete as the Material before proceeding.
  1. Select PropTable > Column Sections The Concrete Column Section Properties dialog opens.
  2. Type a Section Label in the Section Label edit box.
  3. Choose an option in the Shape group:

    Rectanglar

    or

    Circular

    The graphical display of the column changes according to the option chosen.
  4. Based on the selected, shape:
    For this shape… Enter these dimensions…
    Rectanglar Height in the H field and the Width in the B field
    Circular diameter in the Diam field
  5. (Optional) Type one or more of the following Cracked Section Factor values:

    Axial

    or

    Flexural

    or

    Torsion

    These values reduce the section axial, flexural (moment of inertia) and torsional stiffness of the member for analysis purposes in RAM Frame and RAM Concrete Gravity Analysis. The specified cracked section factor is multiplied directly against the associated gross section property (Area, Moment of Inertia and Torsion Stiffness respectively) to determine the stiffness value used for the analysis. A value of 1.0 for any of these factors will result in the full gross section stiffness property being applied.
  6. Click Add. You will see the newly selected column section entered in the Concrete Column Section list box.
