There are three methods for adding a point load assignment to a model.

Method 1: |
- Select the point load property to be assigned by clicking the desired property in the Point Load Property list box.
- Select On-Grid, from the Add Mode box.
- Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode.
- While in Point Load Add Layout Mode, you can add a point load by defining a location where the assignment will be made. This is done by clicking the mouse on node defining the point. If no node exists at the desired point, the X and Y location can be entered by using the Keyboard Mode Coordinate Entry command.

When the point load definition is complete, a new point load assignment will be made, showing on the screen as a small dot.

Method 2: |
- Select the point load property to be assigned by clicking the desired property in the Point Load Property list box.
- Select On-Beam, from the Add Mode box.
- Select the Distance option.
- In the Distance edit box, enter the distance from the end of the span that the load will be placed. Note that a value of 0.00 for the distance is permissible.
- Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode.
- Click the target cursor on the desired span of the desired beam.
- Click the rectangle cursor on the end of the span from which the distance will be measured.

Method 3: |
- Select the point load property to be assigned by clicking the desired property in the Point Load Property list box.
- Select On-Beam, from the Add Mode box.
- Select the % of Span option.
- In the % of Span edit box, enter the relative distance from the end of the span that the load will be placed. The range of allowable values is 0.0 to 1.0.
- Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode.
- Click the target cursor on the desired span of the desired beam.
- Click the rectangle cursor on the end of the span from which the relative distance will be measured.
