Assign Diaphragm Connection to Node

The RAM Structural System has a default global criterion, which governs the connection or disconnection of nodes as the model is built. The default conditions of a node being disconnected from a diaphragm apply when the end nodes of a beam are located outside a diaphragm or there are internal beam nodes such as in the case of braces or column spanning to the length of a beam.

Note: This feature is indented to be used for nodes connection with Rigid diaphragms only. For other diaphragm types, it has no effect.

Inside RAM Frame, you are able to override the global criteria by specifying either Connect Node to Diaphragm or Disconnect Node to Diaphragm commands. Assign Single, Fence, and All are available.

SettingDescription
Global This option reverts the connect/disconnect criteria to the global default values.
Connect Node to Diaphragm When this option is chosen, the pull-down menu is activated, showing all stories with diaphragm numbers. Once a story with diaphragm number is chosen from the menu, you can connect any node to this diaphragm by using Single, Fence, or All command. Diaphragm connectivity information for all nodes can be always reviewed in Frame Model Data report.
Important: This command may affect the behavior of a building drastically. Therefore, it must be used very cautiously.
Disconnect Node to Diaphragm Disconnects any node from the diaphragm.
