The seismic requirements of FEMA 350 have been incorporated into the seismic provision checks. By selecting 'Perform FEMA350' the appropriate moment frame checks (strong column - weak beam, panel zone, etc.) will be performed in accordance with FEMA 350. These checks will also consider the reduced beam sections (RBS) if they are applied to beams at a joint. Note that the UBC 1997 code requirements do not include the consideration of research performed subsequent to the Northridge earthquake related to steel moment frames. As such there is no consideration for reduced beam sections in UBC 1997 unless FEMA 350 is selected.
