To generate a steel floor framing drawing

To produce a drawing of the steel floor framing for a floor type, use the following procedure.

A dialog box opens prompting for the desired floor type and the name of the DXF File to be created. In addition, numerous options exist for file creation such as scaling, grid bubble shape, layering, etc. Options for the creation of a concrete beam schedule are also given. Option defaults are set by the system administrator at the time of installation but can be modified on a project-by-project basis from this dialog box. Note that if a scale other than the default is selected, it may be necessary to modify some of the options in order to maintain the proper proportions.

  1. Either:

    select Post-Processing > DXF File > Floor Framing

    or

    select the Framing DXF tool

    The DXF File Generation dialog opens.
  2. Select the Layout Type to use from the list.
  3. Either:

    select a standard drawing scale option

    or

    type a custom scale factor in the Scale field

  4. (Optional) Customize the layer colors and labels:
    1. Click Color/Layer Options. The the DXF File Layer/Color Options dialog opens.
    2. For each material type and structural element type, select a Color Number and type a Layer Name.
    3. Click OK.
  5. (Optional) Click Beam Label Options to customize the beam labels.
  6. (Optional) Click Text Options to customize the text size and style.
  7. (Optional) Click Misc Options to customize display of other drawing items.
  8. Click Create Plan.
  9. Type the name for the DXF file and click Save. By default, the file is located in the RAM DXF directory.
  10. (Optional) Repeat steps 1 through 9 for each level to generate drawings for each.
