Applied Story Forces

The Applied Story Forces command displays generated story loads for seismic, wind and user defined lateral load cases. Available load cases are tabulated in the Applied Story Forces diagram. it also displays gravity loads defined on semirigid diaphragms with two-way slabs.

If the Display option is checked and the Apply button is pressed, the forces corresponding to a chosen load case are displayed with arrows at locations where they are applied. These arrows are proportionally scaled to signify their magnitudes.

To remove the arrows from the screen, uncheck Display option and then press the Apply button.

Show Magnitude and Show Coordinates options add text next to the arrows to display magnitude of the forces and their coordinates, respectively.

The arrows on screen can be scaled by entering a value in Scale for Arrow Size edit box. Note that no value less than zero is allowed and the default value is 1.0. In addition, two options for scaling types for arrows are provided: Log and Linear scaling

The Cancel button closes the diagram.

Note that closing this diagram or invoking Reset Model does not remove the arrows from the screen.
