Wall <material> Live Load Reduction dialog

Used to assign a live load reduction factor percentage to one or more walls.

Opens when either:
  • Layout > Walls > Add On-Grid is selected
  • the On-Grid tool is selected from the Layout Wall dynamic toolbar

When a Wall is initially modeled, it is given the default Live Load Reduction assignment, which is to calculate and use the value allowed according to the building code selected. Therefore, this command need not be selected unless an alternate maximum Live Load Reduction factor is desired, or to clear any previous assignment made.

SettingDescription
Live Load Reduction %
  • Use Calculated Value - the calculated allowable reduction based on the selected building code.
  • Use Calculated Value, limited to a Maximum of - allows a cap to be place on the amount of reduction; the Live Load Reduction factor used on a member will be the more stringent value of the maximum specified by the user and that calculated using the specified Building Code.
  • Use - specify a specific % reduction to be assigned to the member. Note that the program will use that value even if the code required value is more stringent.
SettingDescription
Single Click the target cursor on the wall for which you wish to specify the maximum Live Load Reduction factor.
Fence Fence an area in which all walls will be assigned the specified maximum Live Load Reduction factor.
