Modify Wall Elevation dialog

Used to create sloping beam framing by changing the elevation of the top of the wall.

Opens when either:
  • Layout > Walls > Modify Elevation is selected
  • the Modify Elevation tool is selected from the Layout Walls dynamic toolbar

This command is used to create sloping beam framing by changing the elevation of the top of the wall. When a Wall is initially modeled, the top of wall is assumed to be at the story level, and any beams framing into that wall are assumed to frame in at that level. Therefore, this command need not be selected unless an extended or shortened wall is desired, or to clear any previous assignment made. When a wall elevation is modified, the elevations of the ends of the beams and braces that frame into that wall are also modified accordingly.

Tip: The base of the wall at the foundation level can be lowered using Layout - Foundations - Modify Elevation .
SettingDescription
Top of Wall Select the option for the top of wall in relation to the story height:
  • Use Story Height - used to reset the top of column of a previously changed elevation
  • Raise - used to extend the wall height above the story height level
  • Lower - used to shorten the wall height below the story height level
SettingDescription

Fence: Fence an area in which all walls will be assigned the modified elevation.
