Concrete Beams Section Properties dialog

Used to add rectangular or T-shape concrete beam sections.

Opens when PropTable > Beam Sections is selected when Concrete is the current material.

Setting

Description

Section Label

Type a unique label used to identify the section.

Shape

Select either a Rectangle or T-Section profile.

The Geometry parameters vary dependant on the shape selection. The diagram updates to reflect the required input.

Geometry

Setting	Description
Depth	The overall depth of the section.
Width	(Rectangle) The section width.
Flange Width	(T-Section) You can select to Use Calculated in which the program will determine the flange width on either side of the beam. Alternately, you can select the Use option and then type the Left Overhang and Right Overhang dimensions.
Flange Thickness	(T-Section) You can select to Use Slab Thickness for the T-section flange. Alternately, you can select the Use option and type the flange thickness to use.
Web Thickness	(T-Section) The width of the T-section web.

Cracked Section Factor

For all concrete sections cracked section factors can be specified for Axial, Flexural, and Torsion stiffness modification. These cracked factors will be used in both RAM Frame and RAM Concrete Gravity Analysis to modify the gross member stiffness for the associated section property. The factor specified will be multiplied directly to the calculated section property stiffness so a value of 1.0 will produce no modification and the gross section stiffness value will be used.
