Add a Point Load Assignment

There are three methods for adding a point load assignment to a model.

Setting	Description
Method 1:	Select the point load property to be assigned by clicking the desired property in the Point Load Property list box. Select On-Grid, from the Add Mode box. Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode. While in Point Load Add Layout Mode, you can add a point load by defining a location where the assignment will be made. This is done by clicking the mouse on node defining the point. If no node exists at the desired point, the X and Y location can be entered by using the Keyboard Mode Coordinate Entry command.

Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode.
While in Point Load Add Layout Mode, you can add a point load by defining a location where the assignment will be made. This is done by clicking the mouse on node defining the point. If no node exists at the desired point, the X and Y location can be entered by using the Keyboard Mode Coordinate Entry command.

When the point load definition is complete, a new point load assignment will be made, showing on the screen as a small dot.

In the Distance edit box, enter the distance from the end of the span that the load will be placed. Note that a value of 0.00 for the distance is permissible. Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode. Click the target cursor on the desired span of the desired beam. Click the rectangle cursor on the end of the span from which the distance will be measured.

In the % of Span edit box, enter the relative distance from the end of the span that the load will be placed. The range of allowable values is 0.0 to 1.0. Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode. Click the target cursor on the desired span of the desired beam. Click the rectangle cursor on the end of the span from which the relative distance will be measured.

Select the % of Span option.
In the % of Span edit box, enter the relative distance from the end of the span that the load will be placed. The range of allowable values is 0.0 to 1.0.
Click Add. The Point Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear, and the RAM Modeler will enter the Point Load Add Layout Mode.
Click the target cursor on the desired span of the desired beam.
Click the rectangle cursor on the end of the span from which the relative distance will be measured.
