Specifying FibreFlor Fibres with Corus Deck

FibreFlor may be used in conjunction with Corus ComFlor decks slab reinforcement. It may be used in lieu of conventional reinforcing.

Corus ComFlor decks are included in the RAMUK.DCK deck table, and may be selected in the RAM Modeler using the PropTable - Decking command. On the Composite Floor System tab, select one of the Corus ComFlor decks from the list. When a Corus ComFlor deck is selected, an option to specify that the deck is Reinforced with FibreFlor appears. Select that option, along with the other deck and concrete properties.

FibreFlor is only considered when BS 5950 is selected as the code to be used for beam design. When FibreFlor is used in lieu of traditional reinforcing (e.g., mesh), the contribution of the fibres is considered in the design of the transverse reinforcement. At the proper dosage the system provides a longitudinal shear capacity of:

vr = 2.42 Acv

where Acv is the area of concrete. In the Gravity Beam Design report and the Transverse Reinforcement Check report, the values listed for the Required Asv indicate the required area of traditional reinforcing when FibreFlor is inadequate.

FibreFlor is ignored for edge beams.

When FibreFlor is used, the density of concrete used in the calculation of floor loads should be increased as appropriate to account for the additional weight of the steel fibres.
