Exposure

The Load - Exposure command is used to specify wind exposure for each diaphragm. By default, each diaphragm is treated as fully exposed. This command is also used to indicate the height of existing parapets and building extents.

The Building Extents in the Exposure dialog are initially displayed in a "Read Only" format with the Use Calculated Values option selected. To make changes to these values, select the Use Specified Values option. The Building Extents cells in the spreadsheet can then be highlighted and the values modified.

Note: If there is more than one diaphragm at a story, Building Extensions are, in fact, diaphragm extensions.

Parapet Height and Exposure can be modified regardless of the model type. To modify Parapet Height for a diaphragm, highlight the value in the cell and type the new value. To modify the exposure for a diaphragm, select the appropriate option in the exposure column of the grid. See the RAM Frame manual for further discussion of Wind Load generation.
