RAM Structural System Help

Generating Equally Spaced Grid Lines

  1. For Orthogonal Grid Systems, select either the X Grid or Y Grid tab and for Radial Grid Systems select either the Radial Grid or Circular Grid tab.
  2. Type the Grid Label of the first Grid to be added in the Grid Label edit box. Use the TAB key or mouse to move to the next edit box.
  3. Either
    Grid System Do this
Orthogonal Enter the Coordinates (in current Units) of the Grid to be added in the Grid Coordinate edit box.
Radial Enter the Grid Angle (for Radial grids) or Radial Distance (for Circular grids) in the corresponding edit box.
  4. Specify the Extents of the first Grid to be added with the Extents controls. If no extents are specified the extents will be based on the maximum and minimum grids in the other direction.
  5. Specify the end at which the first Grid label will be displayed using the Display Label control.
  6. Either
    Grid System Do this
Orthogonal Enter the Grid Spacing (in current Units) in the Grid Spacing edit box
Radial Enter the Angle Increment (for Radial grids) or Radial Increment (for Circular grids) in the corresponding edit box.
  7. Type the number of additional grids (not counting the original grid entered above) into the # of Additional Grids edit box.
  8. Select the desired Labeling option:
    • Automatic Ascending (the default) to generate ascending numeric or alphabetic labels,
    • Automatic Descending to generate descending numeric or alphabetic labels,
    • Manual to have the RAM Modeler prompt for each Grid Label to be generated, or
    • None to generate Unlabeled Grids.
    • If no Grid Label is entered for the first grid, all grid lines will be generated without labels.
  9. Click Add.
