Member View/Update - Standard Provisions

Clicking View/Update causes the target cursor to appear. Click the target cursor on the lateral member you wish to view. This will cause the View/Update dialog box to appear. The header of this dialog box provides information about the lateral member selected: its floor type, member number, story level, and span coordinates.

The assigned member size is displayed in the top box of the Member Sizes list box. A new member size or new yield strength value can be analyzed by selecting the new size from the list box or entering a new strength value in the edit box and then issuing the Analyze command. Immediately after a new size has been selected or strength value modified but before Analyze is invoked, the stop-light will light up yellow and the interaction equation value will be cleared. Once an analysis has been performed, if the member passes the code check, the stop light will light up green and new interaction equation value will appear in black. If it does not pass the code check, the stop-light will light up red and either the interaction equation value or a statement of why the member failed will appear in red.

To view a detailed report of the code check, click the View Results button. This includes Input Design Parameters, Controlling Load Combination, and calculated values. A print out of this report is available from the report view and also by selecting the Reports - Member Code Check command.

Once a satisfactory member has been found, it can be saved by clicking the Update Data Base button. Notice that when a new size is saved to the database, the status indicator light turns yellow
