Smartbeam is a proprietary product of CMC Steel Products. It comes in two varieties: Cellular (round openings) and Castellated (hexagonal openings). Both Cellular and Castellated beams are implemented in the RAM Structural System. Cellular and Castellated beams are created by cutting a standard beam section in half longitudinally in a semi-circular or castellated pattern, separating and offsetting the two halves, and welding them back together. This results in a deeper beam of the same weight as the original, with round or hexagonal openings along the length of the beam.
