Joists - Add Off-Grid: Beam to Beam [Dist, Angle]

Purpose: To add a joist by using a distance offset from one end of an existing beam or joist and an angle describing the direction of the new joist:

  1. Select the Beam-To-Beam (Dist, Angle) option button.
  2. Select the frame of reference from which the Angle will be measured by clicking either the Angle Relative to Reference Beam 1 or the Angle Relative to X-Axis option button.
  3. Type the distance from one end of a reference beam to the location of one end of the new joist in the Dist edit box. Note that a value of 0.00 for the distance is permissible.
  4. Type the angle between the reference beam or positive X-Axis, depending on the selection in Step2, and the new joist in the Angle edit box (between 0 and 90).
  5. Click Add. The dialog box will disappear and the RAM Modeler will enter the Add Joist Off-Grid Layout Mode.
  6. Click the reference beam.
  7. Select the end of the reference beam from which Dist is to be measured.
  8. Click in the quadrant for the new joist to be added. The closest intersection of the new joist with an existing member in the selected direction will form the second end of the joist. The joist will automatically attach to existing grids if available, or else it will create new grids as necessary.
