§6.1 Material Specification

No steel grade is specified in RAM Frame and as such the engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with this provision.

§6.2 Material Properties for Determination of Required Strength of Connections or Related Members

The Ry values are calculated according to Table I-6-1. Note that all Hollow Structural Sections (HSS and TS) are assigned a Ry of 1.4, Pipe (CHS) sections an Ry of 1.6 and for other rolled sections Ry is based on the engineer specified yield strength as follows:

36ksi – Ry = 1.5
42ksi – Ry = 1.3
All others Ry = 1.1

Ry = 1.0 for SidePlate Connections
