Reinforcement
If the user defines their own values instead of letting RAM Concrete Beam use the code defined values, the values will only be used if they are also within the limits of the code prescribed values. Code values will always be used as the design limits if the user defined values that are not at least as stringent as the code prescribed values.

| Clear Bar Cover: | The distance from the outside face of the beam to the closest tension reinforcement bars. This value is used to check the true bar depth. If code is selected, the assumption is made that the concrete is not exposed to soil, weather or corrosive environments. |
| Cover to Center of Bars: | This is the default distance from the bottom or top of the beam to the center of the bars in the closest flexural reinforcement. If two layers of bars are used this value will be the distance to the effective center of the two layers. |
